Evangelist Barbara Jackson-Sago

 

Evangelist Barbara Jackson Sago is a native of Chicago, Illinois, but grew up in Memphis, TN. She is the 5th child born to Pastor Andrew and Mrs. Lottie Lee Jackson. She comes from a family of singers, musicians, preachers and teachers.  She is married to Supt. Samuel Sago and is the 1st lady of the Saints Rest COGIC as well as the Faith Temple COGIC of Greenwood, MS.  She also is the 1st lady of District Five of Northern MS Jurisdiction.

 

Evangelist Sago is a graduate of Union University of Jackson, Tennessee and holds a B.A. Degree in Organizational Leadership/Management.

 

She has served as Pastoral Assistant at Faith Temple Ministries Church, where her father is founder and Pastor.  At the ministry of FTMC, she has served as Minister of Music, Bible Training Institute Teacher, Chairman of Founder’s Day Events, Trustee Board Member, Board of Directors and Cell Group Leader just to name a few. Evangelist Sago was instrumental in leading a committee to rename a portion of Holmes Road, which is a major thoroughfare in the city of Memphis, in honor of her father. The street is now renamed Pastor Andrew Jackson Road.

                               

Evangelist Sago is serving as Vice President / Assistant Minister of Music of the Church of God In Christ International Music Department under the leadership of Dr. Judith Christie McAllister.  She served faithfully as Jurisdictional Minister of Music of Tennessee Fourth Jurisdictional Music Department for 16 years. She has traveled extensively conducting workshops and conferences in the area of leadership and training specifically within the scope of Church Music Departments.  She has worked with several artists such as Edwin Hawkins, V. Michael McKay, Karen Clark Sheard, Norman Hutchins, Donnie McClurkin and many more. She organized and hosted the 1st Southern Regional Music Conference which was held in Memphis, TN.  This conference drew several delegates from Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana.  The conference is yet being hosted annually in various states within the region.  She has written songs for the Jackson Family Singers, TN 4th Jurisdictional Choir, The Rev Rance Allen, and Evangelist Beverly Crawford. She assisted in producing the TN 4th Choir's CD as well as her sister's project "Sharon Jackson" in "Make His Praise Glorious".  She was the one of the keyboardist for Bishop G. E. Patterson on Volumes I and II of "Singing the Old Time Way".

 

Evangelist Sago organized and coordinated The 1st PCCNA (Pentecostal & Charismatic Churches of North America) Mass Choir of Memphis, TN which consisted of a 200 voice multi-racial choir of Pentecostals and Charismatics throughout the Mid-South. It was so profound until the leaders of this organization called it “The Memphis Miracle. Many religious leaders played a major role in this event such as Jack Hayford, Thomas Trask, Bishop G. E. Patterson, Bishop Charles Blake, recording artist Andre Crouch and others.

  

She and her brother Derrick Jackson are the founders and owners of the Jackson School of Music where literally hundreds of students have been trained in classical, traditional and contemporary gospel music. Many students are now prolific church musicians, recording artists, ministers of music and instructors themselves. Evangelist Sago is on a mission to educate, inspire, motivate and encourage individuals to reach their God given destiny and purpose by becoming all that God has created them to be.

 

Evangelist Sago credits the success of her ministry to the nurturing and training she received from her parents, Pastor Andrew and Lottie Jackson as well as the support of her siblings and the opportunities given her at Faith Temple Ministries Church. She says “God was guiding me through you and for that I will forever be grateful.”  To God be the glory for all the things He has done!
